The term Unsettled Lands generally refers to the wild lands west of the Great Cave in Exile. When first discovered, these tunnels were relatively bare, probably due to the presence of two powerful predators, Sulfras the dragon, and the Chasm Drake. When the Five imprisoned the demon Grah-Hoth, they built Skarragath there to keep him sealed away. During the Empire-Avernum War the lands were occupied by the Empire and contained two of their most powerful forts, Kothtar and Angierach. They tunnels were occupied again by Rentar-Ihrno during the Vahnatai retribution.
