Priest spells, or to be more accurate priestly rituals, differ from Mage spells in the way that they are not created by the caster, but rather are granted to the caster by the specific God that the caster is praying to at any given moment. As thus, priestly rituals do not require the intricate movements of the body that are necessary for mages to weave their spells, and free the cleric to wear heavy armor to protect oneself if need be (for example in combat).
The general purpose of the priestly rituals is usually to either preserve or restore, with the exception of a few hostile rituals.
