Pylons

The tall, thin, sculpted stones known as obelisks or pylons have long been used by nearly every humanoid race as signs.

Because of their shape, pylons are also well suited to storing and transfering magical energy. After the Reconciliation, Avernum constructed and enchanted a series of pylons to facilitate teleportation to and from Fort Avernum.

However, the masters of the magical pylon are the Vahnatai. Crystal pylons crafted with crystallomancy provide much power to Vahnatai mages. The Vahnatai have even developed lethal versions of these pylons, capable of blasting anyone nearby with large amounts of energy.
