Illithids

Illithids are a legendary race that is regarded as strictly mythical. Artist's renditions depict these abysmal creatures as similar to bipedal squids or octopi, or rather humanoid creatures with squids as heads, the tentacles hanging down past the throat.

Supposedly skilled above all other branches of magic in mind manipulation and control, some apocalyptic tales feature these beings as the ones who will either succeed humans or directly bring about their demise in the remote future.
