Talk:Za-Khazi Run

It makes very little sense that the Za-Khazi Run would connect to the Cult area. The Cult area is near Upper Exile, whereas the Run is mostly in the lower caves. I can't find anything in the games or the ZKR to suggest this connection, let alone confirm it. What are your thoughts, Chris? --- Slartucker 21:24, 2 February 2006 (CST)

My thoughts are it's a very sketchy addition at best, neither veri- nor falsifiable, and not particularly useful given the Cult has for all purposes ceased to exist.
I know you didn't mean me, but if we're going to look at technicalities, my name is Chris too. :P

Yes, the Cult is located in Upper Exile, and the Za-Khazi Run is generally below 'normal' Exile. --Drakey
Wait, I didn't know about that either... didn't the game state that when you follow the Cult's teleporter, you "are back in Exile", that being Exile proper? Arancaytar | Send Reply! --- That is not dead which can eternal lie... 09:14, 3 February 2006 (CST)
The game is a little misleading. What it says is: "You stare out at an unpleasantly familiar sight: you're back in Exile. You don't see any towns or settlements, but you know these trees and mushrooms all too well. You don't know whether you're near Upper Exile, or the Exile far below." The map of the cult area, however, fits very neatly 1 segment north of the NW corner of Upper Exile. It also makes sense that they'd be closer, rather than further away. --- Slartucker 10:19, 3 February 2006 (CST)
That really can't be accepted as fact merely because it's placed there on the map. It's there because there is no lower Avernum in A3. Note that the only lower Avernum in A3 was the Tower of the Magi, which conveniently didn't allow you to go outside.
When Jeff said that it was ambiguous, he meant for it to be ambiguous. I'm led to beleive that it's in lower Avernum because anyone in upper Avernum had to pass through the portal in Portal Fort. There are no people that simply lived in upper Avernum. Though if you want to say that they created their own portal to upper Avernum, which is entirely plausible seeing as how they made another portal in their fort, then take what Slarty said, that it'd be easier to transport closer distances rather than those further away. Teleporting once through a long distance would be a heck of a lot easier than Teleporting several times (supplies don't just magically appear, you know) and then going once a short distance to steal the Orb. ---Radix malorum est cupiditas
No, the geography actually connects. It isn't an isolated map square that happens to be placed NW of Upper Exile, it actually has a river that connects at the appropriate points. See the Blazing Blade map of Upper Exile.--Slarty 19:47, 11 March 2007 (PDT)
