From Slarty

Hey Goldenking, make sure you fill in the "summary" field when you make an edit. It's very helpful to others. -- Slarty 22:34, 11 January 2008 (PST)

Vahnatai lands

I don't want to discourage you, because you have made some good edits. But try to fact check before you edit.

  1. Delrin-Bok is not Dahris-Bok.
  2. First you say the lands are southeast of Formello, then that they are directly under the Eastern Gallery: two contradictory statements, a bit ambiguous on their own anyway.
  3. The history of Vahnatai lands is not the history of Vahnatai lands from 822-824, and the Empire War Heroes are definitely not the only source of information about them. See Aran's note about gratuitous remarks about the PCs.

Article titles in articles

...are properly formatted with double brackets for a link, and not bold formatting. The wiki automatically parses them into unlinked bold print. This is useful in case the text is transplanted elsewhere. -- Slarty

Leader titles in settlement info boxes

Typically, the title goes in the place you have put "Adjunct" and not as part of the name. For example, "Empress" on the left and "Prazac I" on the right (though that particular one is actually incorrect as of EE's Present Day, as she is dead). For some of your articles you have put "Mayor" on the left and for others you put "Adjunct" on the left and "Mayor X" on the right; the former group is the preferred format. What's with the Adjunct thing anyway? -- Slarty 20:56, 30 January 2008 (PST)

Re:Leader titles in settlement info boxes

Yeah. I get the template from Harston, and I didn't realize that Adjunct wasn't part of the code until yesterday. I'll stop doing that. Thanks. --Goldenking 14:02, 31 January 2008 (PST)

Asking Questions is Your Friend

Goldenking, you are contributing many valuable edits to EE, but you are also doing some very irritating things.

  1. Many of the links you are fixing, are reasonable links that would be better served by the creation of a redirect than manually editing every occurance. While there is nothing wrong with changing an individual link, it does mean that said redirect is less likely to be made as the missing link does not appear in the relevant Special pages.
  2. Some of your changes are simply, factually, WRONG. Bahssikava is not synonymous with the slithzerikai homeland in every context! This is an understandable and reasonable assumption to make -- but it's still wrong. Edits should not be based on assumptions. You obviously haven't looked at Nephil's Gambit, so editing articles about it would be like correcting a fact about Dorikas without consulting A5 first.

What I would really like to ask is as follows: don't make assumptions, and if that means you are only 80% sure about an edit, ask about it on the article's talk page first! I have a thorough grasp of game canon and I rarely make edits without first batch searching my game dumps -- but I still put proposed changes on the talk page first unless I'm absolutely, 100% sure about them. -- Slarty 21:24, 31 January 2008 (PST)

More standards

If you use a word many times in a single article (for example, "vahnatai") it is normally only linked the first time it is used. Exceptions might be made if a subsequent use appears very far below the first use.

Also, please remember that the standard for inclusion in EE is either explicit statement in one of the games, or reasonable inference based on explicit statements. Something you make up that seems quite believable does not fit this criteria. I mention this again because I keep finding lots of fabrications in your edits. -- Slarty 15:36, 2 February 2008 (PST)

Nephilim

Goldenking, the proper plural of Nephil is Nephilim. I'm bringing this to attention in a message because you've repeated the error after I corrected it in another article. Thanks. :) -- Arancaytar | Send Reply! --- That is not dead which can eternal lie... 05:05, 18 January 2008 (PST)

Addendum: Although colloquial usage is "Nephils" (probably on the same level as "Octopuses" vs. the strictly correct "Octopodes"), "Nephil" is always and definitely the singular form, not the plural. They are not interchangeable. -- Arancaytar | Send Reply! --- That is not dead which can eternal lie... 05:09, 18 January 2008 (PST)

Feedback on Edits

Please refrain from making any more edits until you look at how your past edits have been corrected, and read the feedback you have gotten. You are making a lot of valuable contributions to EE, but as Aran mentions above, it is very annoying to correct a mistake, only to have you do it again in another article. -- Slarty 15:40, 2 February 2008 (PST)
