Familiars are magically altered animals, of different races, capable of human speech. They usually show loathe for their human masters for their lack of freedom. They are allowed to do their own thing but within limits because of their magical obligation. They aren't even able to kill themselves unless their master allows them to.
The most famous familiar was Cheeseball, familiar to Solberg.
