Skarragath is the name of Grah-Hoth's prison, which housed him from 779-817 IE. The prison was built by the founders of the Kingdom of Avernum to contain Grah-Hoth, and many magical wards were placed on Skarragath by the Five. After the struggle to capture Grah-Hoth, he was forced into a bottle, which was placed at the center of the prison. Assigned to guard Skarragath were Prince Hrothar, who died in the fight to imprison Grah-Hoth but was reborn as a lich, and his undead guards. Hrothar did his job faithfully until the seals of the prison began to weaken, and Grah-Hoth was able to influence the caves again. Eventually, Skarragath had to be breached by adventurers, Grah-Hoth released, and then sent back to the netherworld after an epic battle. After Skarragath was rendered unnecessary, Prince Hrothar was finally laid to rest.
