Fort Duvno was among the oldest of Avernum's fortifications, and has lasted for a long time despite its' violent history. Built by a lake in the Eastern Gallery, it was originally designed to protect Silvar and the surrounding farms from nephilim raids. As time went on, hostile nephilim gradually left the area, and Duvno's purpose shifted more and more to fighting off bandits.
During the Redmark Era and the invasion of the Slith Horde Fort Duvno would once again stand against the tides of darkness, and served valiantly as a staging area for Avernite warriors standing against the invasion.
Fort Duvno also acted in its' time as a place of brief respite for travellers on their way to the northern areas of the Exile, since Formello was the next center of civilization, just north of the Eastern Gallery.
