Gold necklace

The gold necklace is one of a set of identical necklaces which were created during the early years of the Kingdom of Avernum and given to the mayors of the major cities of Avernum. They were all enchanted as to enhance the authority and confidence of their wearer. In addition to this the necklaces had the ability to receive messages from the Castle which was vital as traditional messengers would travel too slow.

In 817 IE the Formello necklace was stolen from Mayor Evelyn during a foiled assassination attempt by the nephilim of the nearby Split-Tail clan and taken to their castle, southwest of Formello. Hawthorne's Assassins stormed the castle and returned the necklace to Evelyn. Since then, the necklaces have been passed from mayor to mayor through war, disaster and famine.
